The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cuernavaca (Latin: Dioecesis Cuernavacensis) (erected 23 June 1891) is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of México. Its seat is in the Cuernavaca Cathedral. On Saturday, December 22, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI named Bishop Alfonso Cortes Contreras of Cuernavaca as Metropolitan Archbishop-elect of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Leon, so the Diocese of Cuernavaca is currently vacant (sede vacante).[1]
