Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram

Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram is a school located at Kilpauk in Chennai. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education and was established in 1977. The school also belongs to the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan educational trust founded by Kulapati Dr.K.M Munshi The school has a student strength of about 3200 students from LKG to Grade XII. The spacious campus of BRV was donated to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chennai kendra in 1972 by V. Pattabiraman, former vice-chairman of the Chennai kendra and a great promoter of cricket in Tamil Nadu. Since then, this culturally rooted co-ed school with an aggregate enrollment of 3,200 students and 156 teachers, has striven to provide an ideal environment for academic achievement and exposure to Indian culture, values and traditions.
Students from the school initiated the national organization, the Debate Club, whose members organize 'the Bait', a national inter-school debating event, the 'Changemakers' Conference', a social service platform, and 'Summer Debating Madness', an open to all, national online debating event. The Debate Club is a student-run organization, with various members from reputed institutions worldwide. The events have courted reputed sponsors including major multi-national companies and organizations.
The school's cultural team also organizes interschool cultural extravaganza, named 'Astra', which attracts attention throughout the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The Quiz Club of the school also hosts an annual interschool quizzing event, named 'the Cue'.

Academics

The School provides an atmosphere conducive to preserving and reviving Indian Culture, offering Quality Education, taking into consideration the aspirations and needs of the Student Community. The Curriculum combines a variety of courses in arts and sciences to develop a desired learning experience. The Student Teacher Ratio is optimum with an average class strength of 40.

Curriculum

The School prepares students for the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) Examination.

The medium of instruction is English and the students are expected to learn three languages from Std. VI- VIII, one of which must be Hindi either as II language or III language.

House system

Progress and proficiency is ensured through the house system by which students participate in all curricular and co-curricular activities in a healthy spirit of competition. The house - Bhishma, Karna, Arjuna and Abhimanyu function under the guidance of House Teachers with active involvement of house captains. The sports day of the school is held sometime between August–September and the annual cultural fest Aakruti is held in July every year.

Quiz Club

Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram's Quiz Club is one dedicated to inculcating spirit of quizzing and sportsmanship in the minds of middle-school and high-school students of the school. The club is guided by the Principal, Sri Ajeeth Prasath Jain as well as the school librarian, Mrs. Radha Venugopal.

The club's founding members are Srivatsan Manivannan, Siddhanth Rao,Daksh Khanter and Sunny Akkara.
The joint Presidents listed above are the chief mentors for the club, have participated and secured eminent positions in quizzes around Chennai, India.[1]
