Benita Collings (born 1940) is an Australian television and film actress and television presenter. Collings is best known for her long running stint as a presenter for Play School on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).[1]

Play School hostess (1969-1999)

Collings is one of the most well-known and recognizable faces on Australian television, thanks to her long tenure on children's program Play School beginning in 1969, and a role she held over 30 years and spanning 401 episodes, until 1999, she was along with John Hamblin and Don Spencer, one of the longest serving members of the shows cast.[2]

Television dramas

In addition to her position as an Australian children's television presenter, Collings has been a stage and screen performer, appearing in many of Australian television dramas, including The Sullivans, Sons and Daughters, The Restless Years, Homicide, A Country Practice and others.[3]

Film

Collings has appeared in the feature film Knowing as the mother of Nicolas Cage's character.[4]
