Befikre (English: Carefree) is a 2016 upcoming Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film written, directed, and produced by Aditya Chopra under his Yash Raj Films banner. It features Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor in the lead roles.[1][2] The film was shot over a period of 50 days in Paris and Mumbai.[3] It is scheduled to release worldwide on 9 December 2016.

The film has songs composed Vishal-Shekhar and produced by Mikey McCleary.[4] Mikey McCleary also composed the background score of the movie.

Plot

Befikre is a story that celebrates being carefree in love. A quintessential Delhi boy Dharam (Ranveer Singh) comes to Paris for work in search of an adventure. Just when he was about to embark on this journey of his life he bumps into a wild, free spirited, French born Indian girl Shyra (Vaani Kapoor). A feisty romance ensues between the two in which both of their personalities- one being an equal match for the other are tested to the limit. Battling their ups and downs, both realize that love is a leap of faith that can only be taken by those who dare to love.

Development

The film was announced by Yash Raj Films in September 2015 as Chopra's directorial comeback, scheduled for a December 2016 release.[5] In October 2015, it was announced that Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor would be cast in the lead roles.[6][7]

On December 2015, Yash Raj Films announced that the songs of the film will be composed by Vishal-Shekhar, and the lyrics will be written by Jaideep Sahni, both of whom would return to collaborate with the banner after roughly 9 years.[8]

In March 2016, there were reports of Singh facing scheduling conflicts with Yash Raj Films after he was signed by Excel Entertainment for Zoya Akhtar's next directorial film scripted by Farhan Akhtar and Reema Kagti.[9] Singh had earlier allotted both Q2 and Q3 of Fiscal 2016 to Befikre (including its Paris and Mumbai schedules). Akhtar's coming-of-age, travel-diary Project requires Singh to film across all the 29 states of India, in the same period.[10]

Filming

The film was shot extensively in Paris. It was filmed in a period of 50 days.[11]
