Barry Likumahuwa (born Elseos Jeberani Emanuel Likumahuwa; June 14, 1983) is an Indonesian funk jazz bass musician. Barry is a son of senior jazz musician Benny Likumahuwa[1] and member of project group Barry Likumahuwa Project (BLP).

Early life

Elseos Jeberani Emanuel Likumahuwa was born on June 14, 1983, on Jakarta, to Ria Likumahuwa and senior musician Barry Likumahuwa. Since childhood in age of 4, Barry had began playing a trumpet and later playing instrumental bass in several years. In primary school, his bass talent had growth when his friend often singing Kahitna' "Cerita Cinta". Barry trying to transformation for bass line through guitar and media bass. Barry studying bass and began did simple recording with tape recorder.

After graduating in senior high, Barry continuing his study college at the Intersbudi of Faculty of Graphic Design during a year.

Career

In 2003, Barry had joining an Indonesian Music Festival and winning as first winner for Bass category and still same of year, Barry also winning 2003 Best Bassist Asian Beat Festival in Jakarta Final. During his career, Barry had ever appointed as bass player in several musician concert, such as Glenn Fredly, Andien, Agnes Monica, Marcell Siahaan, and many other and also listed in compilation album Bass Heroes. Barry began released his debut album in 2008, titled Good Spell which had he winning two awards in other annual awards: 2008 Jak Jazz Awards for Most Favourite Newcomer and 2008 JGTC Awards for Jazz Rising Star. His hits single "Mati Saja" also awarded for Best Jazz Song at 2010 ICEMA.

Cort had endorsing to Barry for conducting a series of clinics tours in several Indonesian city. In 2006, Barry was making a his idealism project band Barry Likumahuwa Project (BLP) which combined of jazz fusion, funk, soul, and rock. Barry with the band had releasing two albums: Generasi Synergy and Innerlight

During with BLP, Barry had performed in more national and international events, such as JakJazz Festival, Java Jazz Festival, Taichung International Jazz Festival in Taiwan, Bangkok Jazz Festival in Thailand, and other. In addition, Barry also making other project, such as Barry Likumahuwa Quintet and Hook (with Ivan Saba). Barry also active to collaboration in national and international musician, such as Dewa Budjana, Dwiki Dharmawan, Erwin Gutawa, Fariz RM, Ezra Brown, Jeremy Tordjman, etc.

Barry had collaboration with Indonesian Idol finalist Kunto Aji for single "Pengingat" to listed Aji' album Generation Y.[2] After that, Barry return to releasing second studio album Octonary which earn a nominations for Best Jazz Album in 19th Annual Anugerah Musik Indonesia.
