Balvaz

Lasse Johansen (born 25 November 1970), also known as L.J. Balvaz, is a Norwegian death metal musician.

Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, he led his own death metal band Balvaz (originally known as Braindead), where he played guitar and sang. The band released one self-titled EP in 1991. In 1992, he started the new band, Disgusting, where he filled the same two positions.[1] The band released one full-length album, "Shapeshifterbirthblues", in 1995 and a self-titled EP in 1996. Some of the unreleased songs from the Balvaz-era later ended up as Disgusting songs.

In 1999, he joined the band Cadaver Inc.,[2] led by his old friend Anders Odden. At first he was the bassist, and later he became their second guitarist.[3] The band released the album "Discipline" in 2001, before changing their name back to their original moniker, Cadaver. As Cadaver they released their final album, Necrosis, in 2004. The band split up later that year.
