Ayub (name)

Ayub is a masculine given name, (Arabic: أيوب).

It is the Arabic version of the name of the Biblical figure Job, and is the name used in the Qur'an for the prophet Job. It refers to patience in the face of adversity, patience in the disease, repent and turn to goodness, or egrets and returns towards Goodness.[1]

The spread of the name among Muslims is partly due to the fame of ̣"Salạ̄h ad-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb" (Saladin), founder of the Ayyubid dynasty.[2]
