The AsiaWorld–Expo is one of the two major convention and exhibition facilities in Hong Kong along with Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was opened on 21 December 2005 by Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, and it is operated by AsiaWorld–Expo Management Limited. It is located on Chek Lap Kok island, next to Hong Kong International Airport.

Features

At a construction cost of HK$2.35 billion, AsiaWorld–Expo offers over 70,000 square metres of rentable space with 10 ground-level and column-free halls, including the AsiaWorld–Arena – the biggest purpose-built indoor seated entertainment arena in Hong Kong with a maximum capacity of 14,000; the AsiaWorld–Summit – Hong Kong's largest indoor conference and banquet venue that seats 700 to 5,000 persons; the Runway 11 – the venue's latest conference and function hall for 500 to 3,800 guests. AsiaWorld–Expo is Asia's only column-free, ground-level exhibition, convention and events venue which is fully integrated with one of the world's best airports, Hong Kong International Airport.[2] The complex is located at the centre of an extensive and efficient air, land, and marine transport network which connects Hong Kong to China's Pearl River Delta and the world's business capitals. It is suited to hosting world-class exhibitions, conventions, concerts, sports, and entertainment events.

The AsiaWorld-Arena has staged concerts by acts such as Oasis,[3] Michael Bublé, Eric Clapton,[4] Il Divo,[5] Coldplay, David Guetta, Madonna, Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, One Direction,[6] Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, Lily Allen, Westlife,[7] Christina Aguilera,[8] Plácido Domingo,[9] Ayumi Hamasaki,[10] Kylie Minogue,[11] Deep Purple,[12] Green Day,[13] Wonder Girls,[14] Girls' Generation,[15] L'Arc~en~Ciel,[16] Namie Amuro,[17] Stone Roses,[18] Super Junior,[19] Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Imagine Dragons, Big Bang, 2NE1, JYJ, Exo, Bangtan Boys and 5 Seconds of Summer.[20]

Since 2013 it has hosted the Mnet Asian Music Awards. It has also hosted exhibition such as ITU Telecom World 2006, Asian Aerospace and E-Commerce Asia

This five-star luxury hotel connects to AsiaWorld Expo, the SkyPier & Nine eagle golf course. 13,885 square feet (1,290.0 m2) of total meeting space can accommodate up to 650 guests. The 658-room hotel opened in December 2008. The hotel provides five international restaurant outlets and it has taken the lead and become the first hotel to have successfully obtained the halal food certification.

There is a covered pedestrian bridge for visitors to walk from AsiaWorld–Arena and AsiaWorld–Expo to the hotel and vice versa.
