  1. ↑ The notation Old Style or (OS) is sometimes used to indicate a date in the Julian Calendar (which is used by churches on the "Old Calendar").
    The notation New Style or (NS), indicates a date in the Revised Julian calendar (which is used by churches on the "New Calendar").
  2. ↑ "At Prusa, in Bithynia, the holy martyrs Patritius, bishop, Acatius, Menander, and Polyenus."[2]
  3. ↑ "At Atino, St. Mark, who being made bishop by the blessed apostle Peter, was the first to preach the Gospel to the inhabitants of that region, and received the crown of martyrdom in the persecution of Domitian, under the governor Maximus."[2]
  4. ↑ The "Great Synaxaristes" lists the following Saints and Martyrs for April 28th; however they are listed for April 29th in the Slavonic menaion:
    • Nine martyrs at Cyzicus:
      • Theognes, Rufus, Antipater, Theostichus, Arcemas, Magnus, Theodorus, Thaumasius, and Philemon
    Similarly, the "Great Synaxaristes" lists the following Saints and Martyrs for April 29th; however they are listed for April 28th in the Slavonic menaion:
    • Apostles Jason and Sosipater of the Seventy, and:
      • Virgin Martyr Cercyra
      • Martyrs Saturninus, Jakischolus (Inischolus), Faustianus, Januarius, Marsalius, Euphrasius, Mammius - the holy seven former thieves;
      • Martyrs Vitalius and his wife Valeria
      • Martyr Zenon
      • Martyr Neon
  5. ↑ There is another Saint Auxibius (+102), whose feast day is on February 17.[12][13]
  6. ↑ "The same day, the saints Aphrodisius, Caralippus, Agapius, and Eusebius, martyrs."[2]
  7. ↑ By tradition he was one of four pilgrims from England - the other three were Ardwine, Bernard and Hugh - they all reposed in Gallinaro in the south of Italy. Many scholars doubt their historicity.
