Anthony Morris III

Anthony Morris III is a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses, since his appointment on September 1, 2005.^{[1] [2]}

Early life and career

Morris was sent to Vietnam in July 1969, 14 years into the Vietnam War. He mentions working "in an army hospital in the Mekong Delta" as well as "working as a technician in an operating room during the war."

After his service in the war, Morris got a job at a hospital in Boca Raton, Florida. He said the effects the war had on him, as well as the attitude of Americans toward the war, causing him to feel the need to have a relationship with God. Morris began attending meetings at a Kingdom Hall in February 1971 in Delray Beach, Florida. That same year he became a pioneer, or full-time preacher. His stepfather kicked him out of the apartment due to his association with the Jehovah's Witnesses.

He returned to Michigan in May, and later moved to Rhode Island, where he met his future wife Susan, whom he married in December 1971. In 1987 they moved to North Carolina, where Morris was appointed a substitute traveling overseer, and eventually a regular traveling overseer.^[1][2]

Branch office and Governing Body

In 2002, Morris and his wife were invited to serve at the US Branch Office of Jehovah's Witnesses. Morris worked in the Service Department at Patterson, NY and later as a helper to the Service Committee of the Governing Body.

On August 24, 2005, it was announced that Morris, along with Geoffrey W. Jackson, would begin serving as members of the Governing Body effective September 1.^[1]
