Air Vice Marshal Andrew Mark Turner, CBE is a senior Royal Air Force officer and helicopter pilot. As of 2016 he is the current Air Officer Commanding No. 22 Group RAF[1][2] and and Chief of Staff Training at RAF Air Command.[3][4]

Early life

Born in 1967 Turner was educated at Kingswood School.[1]

RAF career

Turner joined the Royal Air Force in 1985 and was commissioned as an acting pilot officer in 1986,[5] initially training at RAF Gütersloh.[6] He was regraded as pilot officer in 1987,[7] and promoted to flying officer in 1987,[8] flight lieutenant in 1991,[9] squadron leader in 1995,[10] and wing commander in 2000.[11] He was appointed OBE in 2003 in recognition of service in the Iraq War.[12]

Turner has commanded No. 28 Squadron RAF[1] and RAF Odiham.[13] As AOC No. 22 Group RAF he is responsible for RAF training,[4] and also oversees safety for the Red Arrows.[14] He was appointed CBE in the 2010 New Year Honours.[15]
