America Ammayi is a 1976 Telugu film directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. The cross over film was based on the story of Telugu cultural importance in comparison to the western culture. French dancer Anne Chaymotty, known under her stage name Devayani, acted in the main role.[1] She was learning Kuchipudi dance from Vempati Chinna Satyam. G. K. Venkatesh provided the music score.[2][3] The film was a remake of Tamil film Melnaattu Marumagal.

Plot

Sridhar is an Indian youth staying in America. He marries an American woman Debora and brings her to India. His parents refuse to accept her into their house. Debora learns the Indian culture including language, dance and singing and impresses them. They finally accepts her as her daughter-in-law.
