Alexsandra Wright is a Canadian actress known for her television and movie work and for her high-profile relationship with Matthew Knowles, Beyoncé and Solange Knowles' father.

Early life

Wright was born on February 17, 1971, in Montreal, Quebec.[1]

Career

Wright started acting in 1989 with the television movie Third Degree Burn. Her role in the film was uncredited.[2] A decade later, Wright appeared in the television show JAG as Petty Officer Colzie in the Psychic Warrior episode.[3]

She switched to film acting for Love Beat The Hell Outta Me, a 2000 drama.[4] In 2001, Wright appeared in Baby Boy, a drama starring Tyrese Gibson, Taraji P. Henson, Snoop Doggy Dog and Omar Gooding.[5]

Wright's final two roles were television shows, including the My Fifteen Minutes episode of Scrubs[6] in 2001, and The Young and the Meatless episode of Girls Club[2] in 2002.

Relationship with Knowles

In the late 2000s, Wright and Matthew Knowles began an 18-month affair in which Wright ended up getting pregnant.[7] When her son Nixon Knowles was born, paternity tests confirmed Knowles was the father, making Nixon half-brother of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles.[8]

On November 11, 2009, Tina Knowles filed for divorce from her husband, citing Matthew's affair with Wright.[9]

Wright publicly apologized to Tina, Beyonce and Solange for the "pain [she] has contributed" in their lives.[10][11]

Since the breakup with Knowles, Wright has become engaged to Celebrity Fit Club trainer Harvey Walden IV.[12][13]

Other

Wright is cited in the books The A to Z of African American Cinema[4] and the Historical Dictionary of African American Cinema,[14] both written by S. Torriano Berry and Venise T. Berry. She is also mentioned in Beyonce: Entertainer by Sonya Kimble-Ellis.[15] Wright is also extensively covered in the J Randy Taraborrelli unauthorized biography "Becoming Beyonce".

Wright and her son currently live outside of Los Angeles, California.[16]
