Acting career

Early years in theatre

The people of Puthenthope are known for their passion for football and theatre. Lopez developed a passion for theatre in the early age itself after seeing the theatre festival Leyon Lopez Nadakaolsavam conducted in his land. He made his acting debut as a theatre artist at the age of five. Lopez, along with some friends formed their own theatre troupe named Netaji Theatre while he was studying in standard eight and started directing and acting in their plays. After completing his school education, he decided his career as an actor or otherwise a priest. During his college days, he has associated with various theatre troupes such as C. P. Krishnakumar's troupe, Kavalam Narayana Panicker's Sopanam and K. Raghu's Natakayogam. He continued his career in theatre until the film and television took over the platform.[1]

Films

Lopez was introduced to films by cinematographer-director Venu in his directorial Daya in 1998.[1] He played one of the lead role in K. R. Manoj's Kanyaka Talkies (2013), which was screened in major film festivals and received critical applause. Then in Vedivazhipadu (2013), as a Brahmin member.[2] In 2013, director Rajiv Ravi cast him in a role in Annayum Rasoolum starring Fahadh Faasil and later in Njan Steve Lopez (2014). In 2015 on the recommendation of Fahadh Faasil, he acted in Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2015), which gave him his first major break.[1]
