Albert Rowland

Albert Edward MacKay Rowland (26 October 1885 – 23 July 1918) was a New Zealand athlete who competed in walking events. He competed for Australasia in two walking events at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London.[1][2]

Rowland finished fifth in the final of the 3500 metres walk behind teammate, and fellow New Zealander, Harry Kerr, who won the bronze medal. He also finished fifth in his heat of the 10 miles walk but did not progress to the final.

Rowland won two titles at the New Zealand track and field championships in 1907, the one mile walk and three miles walk.[3]

A second lieutenant in the New Zealand Rifle Brigade,[4] Rowland was killed in the Second Battle of the Marne in World War I.[1][5]
