Actias isis is a moth of the family Saturniidae.
Range
It is only found on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.
Life cycle
Egg
The larvae emerge from brownish eggs in about 10 days after being deposited by the female.
Larva
Larvae have 5 instars (molts/stages), starting off dark brown and become green by usually the 3 instar and can reach a maximum length of approximately 7-8 centimeters.
Pupa
Cocoons are medium sized and can be forced to diapause at tempatures of about 15 degrees centigrade. If kept at or above 20 degrees centigrade the moths should emerge in 3-4 weeks.
Adult
The adults are magnificent but usually only live 7-10 days, the adults do not eat.
Host plants
Eucalyptus gunnii, Liquidambar (sweetgum), and Rhus (sumac).
