Abdelrahman Fakhri Abou el-Ila

Abdelrahman Fakhri Abou el-Ila is an Egyptian Canadian university student arrested in 2002 and accused of partaking in a plot to assassinate Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak the previous year.[1]

Charged in absentia, el-Ila was later tracked to Azerbaijan and arrested. By September 2002, the majority of those arrested had been found guilty and jailed.[2]
