AWAKE

For other uses, see Awake (disambiguation).

AWAKE (Advanced Wakefield Experiment) is a proof-of-principle plasma wakefield accelerator at CERN.[1] It occupies the tunnel previously used for CNGS and uses a proton beam from the SPS as a drive beam to accelerate electrons in a 10 m plasma cell with an accelerating gradient on the order of GV/m.[2]
