Untitled AR Murugadoss film

A. R. Murugadoss' untitled project is an upcoming bilingual film written and directed by A. R. Murugadoss. It features Mahesh Babu and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles.^[1]

Production began in 2015, and the film's Principal photography commenced in July 2016.^[2] It is scheduled for a worldwide release on June 23, 2017.^[3]

Productions

Development

After the huge success of Kaththi, A. R. Murugadoss announced a bilingual project with Mahesh Babu to be simultaneously shot in both Tamil and Telugu in 2015. However, Mahesh Babu was busy in project Brahmotsavam. Hence, Murugadoss directed the Bollywood film Akira, with lead Sonakshi Sinha, an official remake of Tamil film Mouna Guru (2011).

After finishing Brahmotsavam, Mahesh Babu joined hands with A. R. Murugadoss in 2016. A. R. Murugadoss discussed the script with several producers, because it's the most expensive film in Telugu after Baahubali. The film is being produced by Leo Productions Mukunda with Fox Star Studios and Reliance Entertainment in association with A. R. Murugadoss Productions and G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.

Casting

S. J. Surya was selected as antagonist for Mahesh Babu. S. J. Surya, who directed Naani whereas Mahesh Babu was lead actor, marking his another collaboration. A. R. Murugadoss was a former assistant of S. J. Surya in the film Vaali and Kushi. The director discussed with Bollywood actress for Mahesh Babu like Sonakshi Sinha, Shraddha Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and finally Parineeti Chopra was accepted for project and which would be her Telugu debut, but later on Parineeti Chopra was replaced by Rakul Preet Singh citing date problem.

Crew

Santosh Sivan works as cinematographer for the film which marks his Telugu debut. Harris Jayaraj was signed for composing songs and film score. A. Sreekar Prasad is the film editor. Lalgudi N. Ilayaraja will work as the art director. Film had a string of action and stunt co-ordinators like Peter Hein, Anal Arasu, Anbarivu, Ravi Varma, Ram-Lakshman for long time and another schedule has been in Ahmedabad for a chase sequence.

Filming

The film's Principal photography commenced in July 2016;^[4] The makers have already wrapped up two schedules. The crew will be heading to Gujarat in last week of November to shoot several crucial scenes.^[5] It is scheduled for worldwide release in April 2017.^[6]

Soundtrack

The film's soundtrack is scored by Harris Jayaraj marking his fourth collaboration with A. R. Murugadoss after Ghajini, 7aum Arivu and Thuppakki; he had already worked with Mahesh Babu on Sainikudu.
