The 2016–17 Northwestern Wildcats men's basketball team will represent Northwestern University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They are led by fourth year head coach Chris Collins. They are members of the Big Ten Conference and will play their home games at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Previous season

The Wildcats finished the 2015–16 season with a record 20–12, 8–10 in Big Ten play to finish in ninth place. They lost to Michigan in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament. This was the first 20 win season in school history.
