2013 Azamgarh hooch tragedy

The 2013 Azamgarh hooch tragedy resulted in the deaths of 39 people in Azamgarh city of Uttar Pradesh state in India[1] due to consumption of hooch mixed with the methyl alcohol (methanol).[2] This is one of the worst hooch tragedies in the state.[3] Locals contested the death toll claiming 40 people had died in the incident.[4]
