The 2008 ASEAN University Games officially known as the 14th ASEAN University Games was a multi-sports event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with 17 sports and disciplines featured in the games. This was the third time when Malaysia hosted the ASEAN University Games. The 2008 ASEAN University Games had 17 compulsory sports including track and field, swimming, basketball, football, table tennis, tennis karate-do, volleyball.[1]

Angkasawan, The astronaut, the official Mascot of the 2008 ASEAN University Games.

The official mascot of the games is an astronaut named "Angkasawan" with the nickname "A1". It is a symbol of dreams of university students especially athletes to achieve greater heights. The mascot is adorned with three colours of Malaysia national flag to represent its national identify which are blue, red, yellow. The logo on the astronaut's suit represents Malaysia as host of the Asean university games. The mascot is described as being friendly, smart, high spirit and strong.[2]
