1990 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Final

The 1990 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Final was held in Brussels, Belgium in 1990.

Overview

In 1975, the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) hosted the first artistic gymnastics on an international scale, a modest start with a single event and a small number of gymnasts. This genre of sport from then onwards was named as the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup. This initiative was taken by the FIG since this type of competition was held every four years only under world championship. [1]

The world cup event held every year for artistic gymnastics was, however, upheld only until 1990 and in accordance with the change of schedule in world championship(held uneven years), FIG, in 1997, also changed its timing of hosting the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Final only on even years. As of 1998, FIG held the world cup final events only in the individual apparatus events. [2] In January 2009,the FIG Council decided to discontinue any world cup and series finals for all FIG disciplines. [1]
