Shadnagar is a town and assembly constituency in the Ranga Reddy district in Telangana, India.[1] Recently it turned into municipality. Shadnagar and Farooqnagar are called twin towns.

Description

Shadnagar, has a very prominent place in Telangana. The town is situated 48 km from Hyderabad and 30 km from Shamshabad International airport and located on national highway N.H 7. A well-known personality like Bill Gates has visited the place to experience the rural vista of India Bill gates inaugurated the govt. hospital in shadnagar. Youngest reporter in hyderabad kondem srinivas goud is from shadnagar chatanpally, here a famous co-operative society called as SRIRAMA MUTUAL AID THRIFT CO-OPERATIVE SOCITEY is situated.there are more to say, this is the little bit description of shadnagar.

Shadnagar has an average elevation of 648 metres (2,126 ft).[2] It is located 48 kilometres (30 mi) from Hyderabad city. As of the 2001 India census,[3] Shadnagar had a population of 37,529. Males constitute 50 percent of the population and females 50 percent. Shadnagar has an average literacy rate of 58 percent, lower than the national average of 59.5 percent: male literacy is 67 percent, while female literacy is 49 percent. Thirteen percent of the population is under 6 years of age. The dominant language in the town is Telugu, with Urdu as a second language.

History

Shadnagar was founded between 1869 and 1911 under the sixth Nizam Mahboob Ali Khan. Maharaja Kishan Pershad, Prime Minister of Hyderabad state at that time, he was also an accomplished Urdu poet. He was famous among his peers, and was known by his pen name ‘Shad’. Based on the name ‘Shad’, Shadnagar was formed. Neighboring to Shadnagar a village known as Janampet is there which is now renamed as Farooqnagar. The place is very well known for first formation of Panchayat Raj in Andhra Pradesh, Electronic voting machine. The first Panchayat Raj was formed in Shadnagar by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It was formed on October 14, 1959. It was an auspicious day, as it was VijayDashami (Dushera).The head of Panchayat Raj was Venkat Prathap Reddy from Vemulnarva. After that it was taken ahead by Mr.Amarnath Reddy from Balanagar, followed by Mr.Dhamodar Reddy from Farooqnagar.

Economy

It is well connected, having a railway station and a bus station with a number of buses going to Hyderabad every 5 minutes. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is just 25 km away from the town. It also has a good road connectivity to Bangalore, Mumbai and Vijayawada. When it comes to education, there are many schools, engineering and degree colleges set up across the town. Industrially Kothur, Kondurg and Thimmapur are very well established.

Historic places

Shadnagar is home to the historic Lord Venkateswara Swami temple. Rama Lingeshwara Temple in Rameshwaram near to Shadnagar also a historic place. This is Lord Shiva's Temple. This temple is around 5 km from Shadngar town towards [Bengaluru].A famous Dargah of Jahangir Pir is located around 11 km away from Shadnagar, people from all over India visit this Dargah. Bill Gates, During his visit to India also visited Shadnagar Government hospital to participate in a pulse polio awareness programme and provided the necessary financial aid as well. World Bank President also visited Shadnagar. Electronic bus tickets were first issued in Shadnagar.
