Sanding (dance)

For the sand dance, see Wilson, Keppel and Betty.

Sanding is a type of dancing where the dance floor is covered in sand. Willie "The Lion" Smith said of sanding, "You could really hear and feel the rhythm when the dancers shuffled around in a nice pair of patent-leather shoes". [1]
