PowerGenix is a San Diego-based company developing rechargeable batteries,[1] Nickel-zinc (NiZn) and recycling batteries. Nickel-Zinc are generally viewed much safer than Nickel-cadmium. Cadmium is banned in the EU, Toys R Us and Mattel.[2] Their high power-to-size ratio batteries are used in objects as varied as GPS systems, hand-held games consoles and remote-controlled units.[3]

Electric vehicle batteries

PowerGenix has been selected by TARDEC to provide NiZn batteries for hybrid electric vehicles.
