Philip R. Goode

Philip R. Goode is a Distinguished Professor of Physics at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).

Education

Goode earned his AB from University of California, Berkeley and his PhD from Rutgers University.

Notable accomplishments

Goode is the Director of the NJIT's Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research. He led a project to build the world’s most capable solar telescope at Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) at Big Bear Lake. The new solar telescope (NST) is a 1.6 meter clear aperture, off-axis telescope featuring the world’s largest solar aperture.

Honors

Goode is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
He is the winner of the first 'NJIT Excellence in Research Prize and Medal in 2008.[1][2]
