Julie Summers (born 1960) is an English author, historical consultant[1] and writer. Summers wrote the book Jambusters, the book focuses on several women who are members of the Women's Institute during World War II. The book Jambusters was the inspiration for the ITV Series Home Fires, in which Summers has a cameo appearance.[2] The series began in May 2015 and following successful ratings ITV commissioned a second series.[3] Summers has also written a biography called Fearless on Everest: The Quest For Sandy Irvine.[4] Alongside these books Summers has written a second wartime book called Fashion On The Ration: Style In The Second World War which was released in 2015.[5] The book focuses on the fashion style during the 1940s. Summers also wrote a book focusing on the evacuees who returned home form the war, the book was called When the Children Came Home.[6] When the Children Came Home was published on 1 March 2012 and has a favourable 4.5 out of 5 on the Customer Reviews Section on Amazon based on 43 reviews.[7] In 2012 Summers wrote the book Rowing In Britain which was released onto Amazon on 10 July 2012,[8] the book has an approval rating of 3 out of 5 stars on Amazon.[9] Summers was also the research consultant on the popular film The Woman in Black: Angel of Death.
