The Gay Civil Rights (Campaign) (GCR) is an American non-profit organization established in 2013 in support of legalization legislation of same-sex marriage in the United States.

History

In late 2013,[5] Gay Civil Rights was launched as the Gay Human Rights Campaign on a Twitter platform. In 2014, a page was opened on Instagram. The organization, since its founding, has gained a following of nearly 10,000 members on Instagram and over 84,000 on Twitter.

Petitioning of Roy Moore

In 2015, Gay Civil Rights was a became a leading petitioner of Roy Moore. Furthermore, GCR campaigned for his resignation as the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. This support was displayed after the campaign began appeals and worked on MoveOn.org and Change.org. The campaign's petitions received over 14,000 total signatures and some news outlets reported on the controversy nationwide.[6] The petition of Roy Moore read,

"Remove Roy Moore for his inability to perform his duties with impartiality. His blatant religiosity and preferential treatment of Christianity through statements like ‘The First Amendment only applies to Christians’ give enough evidence to doubt his judgement in any case put before him. Because the Separation of Church and State is fundamental to a free society. Roy Moore has shown his inability to be impartial. He has shown himself to be utterly biased and bigoted. He is standing in the court house door against marriage equality."
