He's been called one of the "Top Young Latinos in American Newsrooms" and a "Global Media Leader." Enrique Acevedo (born March 6, 1978) is the anchor of the award-winning Noticiero Univision late-night edition, and a special correspondent for The Fusion Media Group.[1] Acevedo has covered major news stories around the world for print, broadcast and online media, in English and Spanish, including the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan.[2] The HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa,[3] the humanitarian crisis in Haiti and the drug wars in Mexico and Latin America. He co-moderated Univision's 2016 Democratic Debate. Acevedo has interviewed President Barack Obama, former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Melinda Gates and Desmond Tutu, among other global leaders.[4]

Career

Acevedo joined Univision from NBC-Telemundo[5] where he served as special correspondent and anchor[6] in English and Spanish. Prior to that, he worked as a senior reporter on Televisa's special investigations unit and the network's investigative news magazine show: Los Reporteros.[7] He also hosted La Otra Agenda,[8] a daily news program on ForoTV, Televisa’s 24-hr cable news channel. Before joining Televisa, he was a national affairs reporter and special projects editor at Reforma one of the most influential newspapers in Latin America.[9] He writes a column for Univision.com and Fusion.net and is a frequent guest in some of the most popular radio shows in Mexico and the US.

Recognitions and studies

He has a master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism [10] His work in Japan was featured as part of the Journalism School's centennial celebration in a book commemorating the best 100 stories in the last century. He's been awarded the National Journalism prize by Mexico's Press Club on two occasions[11] In 2014 Acevedo was nominated for a News & Documentary Emmy Award in the Outstanding Newscast or News Magazine category.
