Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein (English: Entangle with Charlie) is a 2015 Bollywood neo-noir crime thriller film written and directed by Manish Srivastav.[1][2] An example of parallel cinema, the non-linear narrative film deals with a group of drug addict friends, who get entangled with illegal drug trade nexus, leading to multiple homicides.[3]

Cast

Plot

Four Youngsters high on drugs get involved in an accident of a gangster. This sucks them into the underworld where the conspiracies are so complex that even cops after finding the murder of these youngsters on camera cannot find the reality behind the crime.

Production

This film has been shot in Mumbai, Maharashtra (India).[5] Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein was shot in a record 19 days. The farmhouse you see in the climax of the film is Naseeruddin Shah's farmhouse.[6][7][8] The makers couldn't find an appropriate location, So Naseeruddin Shah offered his own farmhouse for the shoot. There was no video assist on shoot and 60% of the film is shot guerrilla. Lot of times the camera would be hidden in a car.[9][10] Which meant the actors would do and take and come in the car.[11]

The director would watch the footage, give feedback and the actors would again go out on the streets and perform. With all of this, the whole film was done in sync sound.[12] The film is divided on almost two equal parts- the Crime and the investigation. The crime portion which is almost 50% of the film has no background music. Lot of portions are shot in the streets of Bandra.[13][14] All the people visible in the background are actual Bandra citizens taking a walk or jogging unaware that there is a film being shot and they are on camera.[15]

Release

This film has released in India on 6 November 2015 to positive reviews.[16] The film has an IMDB rating of 5.8/10.[17]
