Agrotown (Belarus)

An agrotown (Belarusian: Аграгарадок, Russian: Агрогородок) is an official type of rural settlement in Belarus introduced by the Law "About the Administrative Territorial Subdivision and the Procedure of Resolving of the Issues of Administrative Territorial Arrangement of the Republic of Belarus" (Russian: Об административно-территориальном делении и порядке решения вопросов административно-территориального устройства Республики Беларусь)^{[1][source needs translation]} The Law defines agrotowns as well-developed rural settlements with industrial and social infrastructure to ensure social standards for population living there and in the surrounding areas.^{[2][source needs translation]}

The law further says that if a selsoviet (rural district) has agrotowns, its administrative center must be in an agrotown. If there are more than one agrotowns, the selsoviet center is assigned by the District Council of Deputies.
